Significance

Indigenous people have been playing games since Creation. Whether it’s stickball, games of endurance, games of chance or ceremonial games, there has always been a strong link to the land, water, air and spiritual connection to the Creator. NAIG 2023 will host competitions in 16 sports showcasing the very best of North America’s Indigenous athletes. The sporting events will take place within 21 venues across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth and Millbrook First Nation from July 15-23.
